What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?
When I reflect on the tr
aditions my parents followed, I feel a deep sense of pride in saying that I have never strayed from what they instilled in me.
Their teachings—rooted in respect, simplicity, integrity, and compassion—have shaped the foundation of who I am today.
Unlike many who might feel that the fast-paced modern world has distanced them from their roots, I have consciously chosen to carry forward every value and tradition that was passed down to me.
From daily prayers and the way we greet our elders, to celebrating festivals with devotion and sincerity, I have tried to follow the same rhythm my parents lived by.
The simple family rituals—sharing meals together, respecting elders, welcoming guests with warmth, or practicing gratitude for life’s blessings—have remained a part of my everyday routine.
Even in the smallest details, like removing footwear before entering the home temple, or maintaining cleanliness and discipline, their teachings guide my decisions.
I believe that traditions are not just customs; they are silent teachers of character, humility, and continuity.
While times have changed, and lifestyles have evolved, I’ve ensured that the essence of what my parents taught me remains untouched.
Their way of life was never a restriction, but a guidebook to living with purpose and balance.
I hope to continue this legacy forward to the next generation—not as a burden, but as a beautiful way of staying grounded while growing.
In a world where cultural values often get diluted, I am grateful that I have never had to let go of the traditions I was brought up with.
Instead, I wear them like armor—strong, graceful, and timeless.
